  • Villagers have a chance of turning into Zombie Villagers after being killed by a Zombie in Hard difficulty.
  • Zombie Spawn Eggs have a chance to spawn Zombie Villagers
  • Zombie Villagers can naturally spawn.
  • Zombie Villagers can be cured, turning into a regular Villager.
    • The player uses a splash potion of weakness on it, right-clicks it with an ordinary Golden Apple, and after several minutes the Zombie Villager will become a normal Villager.
  • New "villages.dat" file in the data file of world saves.
  • Added Command Block, intended for adventure maps.
    • The Command Block can run server commands when triggered by a redstone signal.
    • The block can use @player or @p to direct a command at the nearest player.
    • The block has no crafting recipe and is not available in the Creative inventory. It can be obtained with the command /give 137.
  • Added command: /difficulty <new difficulty>
  • Added command: /gamerule <rule name> [value]. Value can be defined as false or true. All rules except keepInventory are true by default.
    • Available rules:
    • doFireTick (If false, fire will not spread)
    • mobGriefing (If false, creeper explosions will not damage blocks)
    • keepInventory (If true, the player will keep inventory upon death)
    • doMobSpawning (If false, mobs will not spawn)
    • doMobLoot (If false, mobs will not drop loot)
    • doTileDrops (If false, blocks will not drop items when broken)
  • Added command: /spawnpoint [player] [<x> <y> <z>]
  • Added command: /weather <clear/rain/thunder> [duration in seconds]
  • Added beacon block (called "Work in Progress")
    • By building a pyramid composed of storage blocks, such as emerald blocks or diamond blocks, and placing the beacon block on top, the player gains access to several powers.
      • A full pyramid can provide Level II powers, should the player select Level I variation in the primary powers section.
    • The beacon block cannot be crafted, although a crafting recipe is planned.
    • It can be obtained in the Creative inventory under "Miscellaneous", or with the command /give 138.
    • Minimum range is 16 meters (blocks)
    • Gives light level of 15
    • Players within the beacon block's range will be given the selected effects every 4 seconds
    • The best pyramid configuration requires 164 storage blocks of any type (iron, gold, emerald, diamond).
  • Added working Night Vision Potion in Creative inventory.
  • Villagers now react positively on new trades, and negatively if harmed by the player.
    • This effect takes place only if the villager recognizes nearby houses, usually with naturally spawned villages.
  • Added an unused particle effect of a villager's face with an angry expression.
  • Villagers will no longer remove trades, but making a new trade may be required to renew old ones.
  • Zombies, skeletons, and zombie pigmen sometimes spawn wearing equipment such as enchanted weapons and any armor, depending on the level of difficulty.
  • Added a zombie attack animation when it holds a weapon.
  • Iron golems now attack slimes and magma cubes.
  • Sheep from spawn eggs can now spawn naturally-colored sheep (white, gray, brown, pink, etc).
  • The attribution of the quote at the end of the credits changed from "Mark Twain" to "Unknown".
  • Fixed /me command only working for ops
  • Fixed /tell command

  • Stairs now auto-arrange into corners.(May be changed based on their feedback)
  • Mobs can go through portals
  • Leather armor can now be dyed
  • F3+P will toggle the auto-pause when the window loses focus (it’s for debugging, mainly)
  • F3+H will toggle detailed item descriptions (also for debugging)
  • Added arrow-sensitive wooden buttons
  • Removed the (Beacon Block aka WIP block) wip block from the creative inventory
  • Added Wither (couldn't spawn without the use of mods or hacked clients)


This snapshot was mostly focused on bug fixes

  • Item frames crashes fixed
  • Nether portal stuff fixed (mostly bug fixes)
  • Tweaked the “hidden feature” (not ready to be released)
