At the discription of minecraft there is a link named "sandbox", but it takes you to the classic page...

Should it link here?

Archive, and editcopy page

Since the main page has now been updated, I propose we archive the talk page and start afresh, as all the talk that's here now relates to the old page. --DannyF1966 15:47, 3 December 2010 (CST)

I agree, i was going to make a post about adding a Mobs link to the front page as well. Makes sense as there are currently Blocks Items etc, although this doesn't currently fit in the "Blocks and Items" section. I can add it to the new page if this one is archived. --Wzade 15:50, 3 December 2010
There is now the Main Page/editcopy version of the mainpage for you guys to make suggestions for changes to be discussed by the community. You can feel free to edit that page so that people get a clear idea of what you want. Also, discussion about changes should be done on that page's talk page :D -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 16:47, 3 December 2010 (CST)
Archive done. And editcopy linked above for permanence. :) Ephemeris 00:10, 15 December 2010 (CST)

2PP Minecraft documentary Link Not on News Section!

We really need to link to to the KickStarter page of the Minecraft documentary: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2pp/minecraft-the-story-of-mojang

I agree!!! Vacation9 21:09, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
It has already been "KickStarted". So that would not be a good idea. UGoBoom 16:14, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

How about a link to the mobs page?

I think we should have a link to the mobs too, they are half as important as blocks. MoonBeans 14:51, 4 December 2010 (CST)

Ditto. I came to suggest the same thing. (See Main Page/editcopy for someone's example). -- Ephemeris 21:02, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
I put the mobs link on the editcopy page... how long does it take for suggestions made on editcopy to filter through to the actual main page? --DannyF1966 03:39, 15 December 2010 (CST)
All has been updated. Thanks Kizzycocoa! -- Ephemeris 17:37, 15 December 2010 (CST)

Survival Test link fail...

I am pretty sure that Survival Test was removed the 16th December... So why is the link still there on the main page? -- BAMitisME

Did you think to actually click on the link? –ultradude25 (T|C) at 16:20, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Minecraft article, Monobook problems

We need a page for Minecraft itself, why does it redirect to the main page? Also, the sidebar and the top bar are messed up on Monobook. --Fifteen (talk | contribs) 12:42, 20 December 2010 (CST)

I'm not having any problems with monobook. --TheKax 16:47, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Beta

As minecraft is now in beta, shouldn't we change the things that go about alpha to beta?

Beta has also been updated to 1.1_01. LabGecko talk 18:03, 22 December 2010 (CST)

Beta is now v1.2! VonExis 17:42, 13 January 2011 (UTC)!

1.3 now. :D Gollum999 18:04, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Yep! ive just been playing beta 1.3, you start with 64 torches(???) a diamond pickaxe, shovel and axe (?????????) a bed (they released beds! and 63 more beds (??????) the beds let you skip till dawn, so, bunker up and get to sleep! im finding out more stuff sooo, wish me luck. iTECHERi

Updates, news and events

"builts" should be changed to "builds" to match industry standards. LabGecko talk 00:07, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

You know, the news and events haven't been changed since December 22. We should really get around to that.--Jlin8002 07:41, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

How about adding a "What's New" section? For example, beta 1.2 came out today. I'd love to see a summary of all the changes. -- Heynow 23:13, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

With 1.5 out, Weather and Achievements/Stats should probably not be listed under 'future' anymore romnempire 04:54, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

The Game

I suggest changing:

The player takes an avatar that can destroy or create blocks, forming fantastic structures, creations and artwork across the various multiplayer servers in multiple game modes.
To:
The player exists in the game as an avatar that can create or destroy blocks, forming fantastic structures, creations and artwork with multiple levels of danger to choose from.
Reason: I believe the suggested change is easier to read and more accurately reflects the current state of the game. LabGecko talk 00:18, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Change of Logo?

I think the bookshelf block represents knowledge in Minecraft, so possibly we could change the logo to a bookshelf block?

Minecraft Wiki

Why did this page even get moved to Minecraft Wiki, instead of Main Page like every other wiki? Now when you look at the title it says "Minecraft Wiki - Minecraft Wiki", which just looks stupid. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 02:51, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

I agree. It also broke the directness of my bookmark, and presumably those of other people. I'd support moving it back to the standard wiki title of Main Page. -- Ephemeris 04:25, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
SEO I assume. Ose 08:43, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
This is a search engine assist, especially considering all of the look alike sites that are cropping up. Also, not "every other wiki" has their front page named "main page". Only those that don't know better. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 17:28, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

water mob update

Hey, im quite confused about the new update that noth confirmed. he said january 03 that he would publish the update next week. but what i wonder is those he mean on monday or any day that week ?

I think we can assume any day that week. SteveZombie 16:56, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Small Update

Hello!! It's necesary to update the Beta version (now is 1.2) on the Main Page.

Thanks and good luck ;). Kingpowl 19:13, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Okay, now is 1.2_01 Please update it, thanks!! :D Kingpowl 14:15, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Problem with Monobook skin

Seems the sidebar and tabs go out of place, but only on this page.

Can someone fix it? It's not entirely vital, it just looks a little odd. Keiji 15:39, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Price

Minecraft.net has the price as €14.95, but the front page has it as €20. The front page should be updated, since minecraft.net is authoritative. --Eskay

Thanks, Ultradude25! --Eskay 11:28, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Native Texture Pack Support Tutorial?

Maybe a new tutorial should be added detailing how to install texture packs using the native texture pack manager included in minecraft beta.

That's really easy. Just download a texture pack, and drag it into the texture pack folder. Tjb0607 00:08, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

MineCraft Skin and TexturePack

the minecraft texture pack has never bin changed and i for one think notch should make a new one not any different than it is now i like it the way it is its just i want some sort of visual change a big one! you know to spice things up a bit

Classic Version

I suggest we remove the current version for Minecraft classic/classic server, only because Notch doesn't even update it anymore.

I'm against this. Its always possible that Notch will someday update classic, if not only for Network updates and some simple performance improvements.--Quatroking - MCWiki Administrator 14:20, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
He also needs to update the Iron Block and Gold Block textures in classic. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 14:34, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Events to the front page

I suggest adding a link to the Category:Events section to the front page --Missingpiece 12:55, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

You can make your suggested changes to Main Page/editcopy Though I seriously prefer not having links to categories, rather linking to specific pages. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 13:48, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Modes that should be made in Minecraft (Final Release)

The community has had some great examples of could-be modes in the final game. Some research and asking around has brough forth three great suggestions that would provide a different flow to Minecraft.

WANTED MODES

1. Given Day Challenge- The player would be given a certain amount of Minecraft days to complete a objective/s to complete the world. A Certain objective could be "Collect 15 Diamond in 100 Days." The Mobs could also have different properties to a certain objective.

2. Race- Almost limitless posibilities could be used for this could-be mode, but as one person said, "Racing a pig would sure be fun!"

3. Hardcore Mode- As Minecraft wasn't difficult enough already, this version would be a tougher version of the confirmed mode where if the player dies, the world is deleted and the player must restart all over again with a new world. This mode would have healing items (Porkchop, Bread, Cake etc.) would heal less health and Mobs would do considerably more damage to the player.

The list of (Legitamite) modes in endless with new updates from Mojang, but we will have to see what Notch and his crew bring in future updates.

contests

Similar to Minepedia repping Minecraft's entry in the Indie games awards earlier, perhaps we should put a note on the main page about the Escapist's developer tournament, and even other such competitions as they arise? Mojang are up against Nintendo and I'd love to see them win!  ANNOYING  00:47, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Ha. didn't even need it!  ANNOYING  13:58, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Minecraft Wiki ------> Mojang Wiki?

I know it's a REALLY big change, but maybe changing the Minecraft wiki (as well as the forums) is the right thing to do?

Mojang owns other games, such as Scrolls, and this is ONLY about MineCraft. Sorry! xD --Rocĸetor talk 06:13, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

Technically, Scrolls only exists as a developing concept at the moment, I will tell you that Curse is already planning (and purchasing domains) to support it. As Rocketor stated, this is the Minecraft Wiki. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 06:24, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

Classic version

I think that Classic version in Play It! box should not be displayed anymore, because Classic version will no longer be updated.

Login Errors

Today, I came home from school expecting to have a wonderful little minecraft session on a server my friend had just set up. To my dismay, Minecraft would not let me even log in! Please help I have a Mac running OS X 10.5.8

Chances are you got a pirated version of MineCraft; why would you buy MineCraft for your School Computer? I did that and a teacher deleted it from my computer (and trash).

You probably have the screen where it says 'Username' but not 'Password'. You need the one with password to log in.

Note: I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8 too. Rocĸetor talk 06:16, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

Current MineCraft beta version

on the mainpage should be changed to 1.4. It's coming out in less than four days according to Notch. Rocĸetor talk 06:17, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

It will be changed when it actually comes out. And you should put your change suggestions on Talk:Main Page/editcopy. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 06:28, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

future removal

can we remove the future things as notch has updated minecraft and the things are included. only the petdogs thing.--Taco1945 21:36, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Official Wiki Youtube page

This is needed badly. Every time a new update comes out dozens of people rush to add their videos to the articles to get views for their channels. We need to have an official wiki channel that an admin would run and a rule that videos can only be added if they are by this official channel or a Mojang staff member. This will prevent the rush of low quality videos and edit wars by users trying to get views.

EDIT: Also some videos have no place whatsoever, offical wiki channel or not. I had to remove a crappy video of a tutorial on how to craft cookies. --Moxxy 00:18, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

We have, repeatedly. It's even in the autoconfirmed users group page. And I'm adding it to the users group page as well, but there will still be people not thinking to look at their user group... what more can we do? –ultradude25 (T|C) at 02:25, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Minecraft Teacher

I just found out there is a teacher who uses Minecraft to teach his 1st grade class how to use computers. Check this out, might be worth mentioning somewhere around the Wiki, in one or two trivia sections maybe... http://minecraftteacher.net/ --Katze 500 08:26, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

That's a great blog! Rather than a page just on the one guy, how about a "Uses of Minecraft" page with an education subheading? Pretty sure other people are using it for this. Even if it's only somewhere to collate links I think it'd be a worthwhile read... --Adje 12:07, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

Main Page suggestion

What about adding a section under "Gameplay" on the main page about the basic keyboard commands for the game. For instance, I played the game for several weeks before I even found out about the F3 key... and only after using that to see where the growling was coming from did I accidentally hit the F2 key. Came here first to look for a keyboard command list when I was wondering if there was a key to hide the GUI. I did a dearch and noticed there IS a page for Controls. Can we add this to the main page for ease?

we need a new section for player created maps like skylands

1.5

1.5 is already out, but I don't see it here...--Jippiedoe 13:47, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

GUYS!

MC Wiki needs a HUGE update, 1.5 is out!!! Everystat13 13:50, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

I don't think it will be a suge opdate, but we should move achievements and weather out of "future". All the achievements have already been listed.

Add Tutorial/Achievement Guide on main page?

The title pretty much sums it up. --Aza1810 18:41, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Future

You can delete 'Weather' and 'Statistics and Achievements' from this section. Also, someone could write a news about releasing 1.5. Piotrek 09:12, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

1.5_01 is out!

Making a new page

We should make a Blacklist of all the users, as well as their IP's of major griefers in the game to make it so that they are pre-banned from most public servers. Anyone wanna help out? I'm just freaking tired of all that griefer crap. Its not trolling. Anyone can do it. It takes no skill. Just a fast clicking finger.

This is not an item for the wiki, please take it to the forum. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 00:56, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Mods to Modifications

I keep mistaking "Mobs" as "Mods", so I end up clicking "Mods". It's understandable, but I think "Mods" should be changed to "Modifications" as it's longer and professional-looking. This would also not make it easy to mistake it as "Mobs". Piber20 01:57, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

planned?

does any one think it is a good idea to make a section here about what might be in futur updates such as,zombie siege, dragons, pistons, maps, and updates of already existing items like coco beans has people have said it will probably be farmable later on.and teh "discussion"on that page would be use full for detormaning the possability of notch trolling us like with the hotdog idea.any one think this is a good idea? -- SlyRatchet 14:53, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Spanish

Why doesn't appear the spanish main page of the Minecraft Wiki in the languages section at the left? Ryo 22:43, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Because it's still on the English wiki perhaps? –ultradude25 (T|C) at 22:45, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Its only a draft, it'll appear in the languages section once it gets separated from the wiki.--Quatroking - MCWiki Administrator 00:17, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Updates

I propose we have an update history page devoted to showing changes between versions(I.E. any new features or bugfixes for new versions of the game) so that players know what to expect from their updates and so that we can gather and provide information about new versions in one place and not have it spread out through pages of things affected by the update. --Ajolin 00:04, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
