Black Wool was first introduced in Beta mode. As Notch released version 1.2, he has released the Black Sheep, along with Squid. Black Wool may be created if a Sheep were to come in contact with a Squid, or use an Ink sack; which is dropped by the Squid on regular Wool.
Other than Black Wool, two grayscale colors such as Gray Dye and Light Gray Dye can also make lighter Black Wool.
Uses
Black Wool may be used for building, decoration or any other ideas decided by the player.
