Template:Food Bread is a food item available in Indev and Infdev. It can be crafted by putting three Wheat in a horizontal line. Bread restores 2.5 Hearts, but it takes a somewhat lengthy process to make (See Farming).
Compared to the other two possible food sources, Bread is usually harder to obtain; it takes the longest and requires the most materials, and grants the least health (aside from uncooked pork and apples).
This has led some to believe that farming is a worthless endeavor but a well maintained field of crops is quite a viable source of food as wheat drops 0 - 3 seeds when harvested that in turn can be replanted for more crops.
Bread is useful, however, for being easier to obtain underground where pigs will not spawn. A player can also carry a stack of 63 wheat into the mines with them and craft as much bread as they need, for a total of 52.5 hearts, whereas pork cannot be stacked and thus takes up far more space in the inventory for the same healing potential.
