Skin resets?

"If the player has a skin applied, sleeping will reset their skin to the default skin." Okay first off is this a player skin or texture pack? Either way i tried both and nothing happened. My skin stayed so did the texture pack. So could someone confirm this or delete the statement. Im running windows don't know what happens with other OS.

I have windows as well, and I kept my custom skin after taking a short nap. JesusChrist666 01:08, 3 March 2011 (UTC)JesusChrist666

Respawning players

The information regaurding the respawning of players on the bed... yeah, where did that come from? Is that just the editor's guess, or is there secret information somewhere that I'm unaware of. This is a Wiki, not a possibility hat.

Read the accompanying references and you'll find a news article that states it is so. Morder 19:03, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Now that the patch is live, can anyone confirm that it actually does change your spawn location? I died after using a bed in two different single player worlds, and I respawned at my regular spawn. Doomed fireman 08:36, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
What do you mean? The patch for respawning beds isn't out yet... –ultradude25 (T|C) at 08:38, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Thought I read here that it was included in 1.3, probably just an old version of the page. Nevermind ;) Doomed fireman 08:45, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Wow!

Beds are really great! I like it very much :) For the first time in my minelife I wish it gets night, so I can use it :D --Darwin 18:51, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

I know i love beds, but this is the pro way to make them :D

Possible glitch

I went to bed with spiders above my base and in the morning the spiders attacked me as if it was night time. Is this a glitch? Guybrush20X6 19:24, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Nope - if spiders are tracking you at night, they won't turn neutral in the day until they take fall damage. Odd, but not a glitch with a bed - I've had this happen to me many times in 1.2. Bigreader 19:39, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Very great

Love this update, great for when your building and not wanting to get killed at night. Here is a quick tutorial I made about making the bed, and sleeping in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CndvRMDYAY

Cant sleep when being attacked?

it needs to be more specific. is is like if u have been hurt within the last 10 seconds u cant go to bed or something like that?

I think it simply means- If your being ripped to cripe by a spider, you cant slump down and fall asleep. --Neil2250 20:59, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
That doesn't help, what is the actual criteria? Someone talked about being tracked by a spider while sleeping so it can't be that. Is it just for the half second while your camera is shaking?Samineru 00:04, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Well, since mobs wake you up if they have a path to you, you must simply wake up the moment you try to go to bed. LB 01:17, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
It seems that you are under the impression that if you were recently hurt, and you rush to your bed and right click it, you will be protected. This is not true. If you are being attacked, you can go to bed all you like. You'll just be immediately woken up and taken out of bed with no time passing. Conexion 19:15, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Mob spawning confirmation

I build my bed in a light area of my shelter and tried to sleep. Zombies woke me up twice during the night as described in the article : near the bed with the time to turn and hit. But I hope there will not be creepers because this is a shelter intrusion and it can do high damage inside and create a hole in walls exposing the player to the night... I think Notch doesn't want us to be too lazy, or maybe it is just a nightmare simulation...Goufalite 21:25, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Got a glitched(?) Bed, spawned Zombies/Skelettons around ten times in row. Maybe theres a way to make a safe Room to sleep in? -- Asdib 22:17, 22 Feb 2011 (UTC)

I am also getting this problem. I go to sleep in a wooden shelter, completely lit up, no way for mobs to get in/spawn in here. I have had 1 zombie and 3 skeletons spawn and wake me up in two nights. The floor is made of grass, although under the bed there are planks.Hawky133 23:37, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

None of these methods fixed this: Replacing grass floor with planks
Replacing door with solid blocks
Adding more torches
Replacing the glass windows with dirt

Any fixes? Hawky133 23:44, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Try destroying your bed and moving it. Worked for me. Moonshadow101 01:32, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Try making floor out of halfblocks (slabs). Monsters shouldn't be able to spawn on themXiphiaz 03:28, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Easiest fix is to replace the floor with a material mobs can't spawn on. Glass works, and you can put some kind of display below it. Arcticwolf15 04:30, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, the formula to determine whether or not nearby mobs can reach you doesn't work properly if the bed is immediately adjacent to a wall that is only one block thick. Either move the bed, or bulk up the wall. This was always worked in my experience, though I haven't done too much testing. Moonshadow101 01:06, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Also, I have a wooden cabin with glass windows, fully enclosed no way for mobs to enter. I got woken up 4 times in a row while trying to sleep (2 zombies 2 skeletons) after which I blocked the glass windows with dirt and then proceeded to sleep fine 'till morning. Maybe it has something to do with how mobs can see through windows?Advocate777 5:16 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Zombies cannot damage you

I've noticed that when I die/wakeup because of a zombie spawning in my house when I sleep, it cannot harm me unless it is jumping.
Skeletons and creepers still harm me (haven't found spiders).
Hawky133 00:09, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Yeah this is a confirmed bug as seen in the version history article. Zombies can only damage you when they're above you. Tigernose 00:19, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

When walked on, beds make a sound like stone, suggesting that they are uncomfortable.

To whoever wrote this: "You sir are a genius!". I seriously laughed pretty hard after reading that. Lucasmccoy 05:58, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Do all aspects of time pass?

After sleep, is time sped up for growth? For example, do saplings become trees and does grass spread as though an entire night has passed? I've done a little testing and it seems like no time actually passed as far as grass growth is concerned. Mirth23 06:03, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

I put 8 sand with charcoal in the furnace at dusk, fussed arond for a few seconds then went to bed. At dawn, the furnace still had 5 sand blocks to convert, suggesting that over-time processes do not occur whilst in bed. --Kris159 19:01, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

What is this entry?

This was added to the trivia but does not have a bullet and is not part of the rest of the list.

This method is similar to the technique used when creating half doors.

I think it may be referencing the trivia entry about making half beds, but it seems to have been moved out of place.

--NipplesOfTheFuture 11:09, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Has the same thing happened to anybody else?

When I craft the beds, nothing shows up where the bed should be when crafting it, though when I hold the mouse over the place the bed should have appeared, it says "Bed". So after that I have an invisible bed in my inventory, and when i place it it doesn't look like it would normally do but it's just one white half block and one gray (should be red) half block, not even any wood underneath.

And also I get waken up by a mob every time I try to sleep. -TheRealFake19

Do you use a texture pack? becuase they are not up to date with the bed ofc. You could also try to remove the .minecraft folder in appdata then running the client again. (this will remove your saves)Taurentius 13:43, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

I had to force update to get it to work. Broseidon 04:28, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Nonsensical trivia note

Fresh from the trivia sectionnnnn:

"Also you can not get in beds from the foot in bed, the result is the you can not get in bed during day message."

Wait, what?

Assuming they meant:

"Attempting to enter a bed from the foot will result in a message saying "You can only sleep at night"."

UncleNinja 15:55, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

No, I tried it and that's bull. I'm removing it from the article. UncleNinja 20:52, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Can be used as a secret door

If you place the bed in a corner with nothing on the other side of the wall, you will wake up on the other side of the wall. This can be used as a secret door.

In case that explanation was enough, here's a video on how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=escUUjdAri8 Carterv 01:26, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Someone in my bed???

Hi i have a bed in my lookout tower and i am playing on single player free build (not survival) and when i go to sleep in my bed i keep getting the message "Someone is occupying the bed" :O i got scared because there is no one in the bed :/ so i don't what to do! Robjon70 15:11, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

It was Herobrine hiding under the covers. Next time it happens dump lava on the bed, that'll show him. Frjam 19:21, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Try destroying it and putting it back. UncleNinja 20:15, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

You can sleep in a bed surrounded by blocks.

If a bed is surrounded with blocks in SSP, you can still get in it by right-clicking on the pillow while sneaking on top of the bed. I've done it many times with different beds at different depths/heights. I didn't notice anyone else mention this, and the bed article indicated that you cannot sleep in a bed that has blocks adjacent to it on all sides, so I thought I'd mention this.

Blue Beds?

File:Crafting Blue Bed.png

Blue Bed.

Hi, I happened to be crafting a bed when a blue bed showed up. I don't know if it's my texture pack because it has no info regarding beds. This is odd because all of the other beds I made were red, even with that texture pack. I also Have a picture of the bed placed if anyone wants to see. Any thoughts? --Record307 05:21, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

It's the texture pack. There are only red beds. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 09:17, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

bizzare. they is very JUST red beds. --Crazy4music 22:48, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Waking up on slab floors?

I have a floor made of half-height slabs around a bed and it appears the game will put me on top of the bed when I awake, even to the point of sticking my head into the solid ceiling, rather than put me on the slab floor. I suspect this is related to mobs not spawning on slabs. Wondering if anyone else can confirm the issue? --JellyfishGreen 14:07, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

I've had the same experience with beds built into a glass dome on SMP (don't ask). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:50, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
