items-individual pages?
I believe the items should have individual pages. there simply too many items to group in tools, materials etc. thoughts?--Kizzycocoa 08:27, 9 November 2010 (CST)

- The lack of information for each tools (we really can't have dozens of pages with barely any lines of text) is an issue here. I think we should clean up the existing pages instead, i.e. add links to related pages and such.--Quatroking - Garble Garble! 14:39, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
- My suggestions:
- Coal needs its own item page. It currently redirects to the ore block page.
- Record should be split up into Gold Record and Green Record, it is very likely that there will be more record types available with future updates (See Tutorials/Minecraft Sound Directory)
- Same with Apples: Red Apple and Golden Apple
- Not sure about Armor, but it would make sense, too.

Template with images available for review

- I was looking at the Template:Items and Template:Blocks and they look GREAT. As far as the tool topic, what about updating it to list all levels that work, so Obsidian would only have diamond, but dirt could list them all, but ores would only list iron and up, so that as people look at it they know all the tools that work, since some have a minimum of something other then wood (or even arm). Are Reeds an item?
Would Reeds be considered an item? I know it is placeable as a block, but it has an item-esquire Inventory/Held render. --Fishrock123 09:06, 10 November 2010 (CST)
- Seeds, too.
- Frankly I reckon it'd be best just to merge this template with the blocks one, as nearly all blocks can be held as items - therefore, you've got "place-able items" (blocks), and "non-place-able items" (as contained in this template). Can't speak for other users, but if I see something like Wheat in a template area, I expect easy access to something like Crops (and Seeds!) as well.
- Which is why I've added grilled fish, gold apples, and arrows. Yes, these items are covered on other pages already linked by the template, but users don't have psychic powers in order to know that - plus the use of image thumbnails make the page links look like they lead to specific articles (as opposed to ambiguous groups of items). - Bomb Bloke 01:22, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Another row?
Me and some friends all agree that the Raw Materials row on this template should become 2 rows so you don't have to scroll to the right to see everything (when using a small monitor, laptop, etc), and it'll look neater anyway. - This template does not cause scroll at any resolution. The Raw materials is two rows. This is a problem with your browser, or configuration, not the template. It is most likely because you are using a beta of IE. -- Wynthyst

- To their credit, Microsoft does seem to have finally stopped pretending they own the internet and have actually made some good strides towards improving standards compliance in IE. It's just a shame it's too little too late; there are plenty of IE hacks we'll have to live with for the next 20 years because of how ubiquitous IE 6, 7, and 8 are (and the fact they decided to drop support for XP in IE 8+ certainly doesn't help matters any).
- All that being said, I just checked myself, and can confirm that this template (and
{{Blocks}}) is definitely broken in IE; this is because these templates rely entirely on hardcoded CSS for their appearance, instead of having the appropriate styles in MediaWiki:Common.css. Where's your sign?
I noticed the items template lacks signs, which I think qualify as items. The template itself even appears on the 'sign' page. Should they be placed in the template under decorations? I think that best describes them. B0Boman 05:52, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- I noticed the entire 'Decorations' category doesn't make sense. Beds and doors are very much on the useful side of things. Also, the page it links to, Decorations_(creative), is about 2d intersecting sprites. It covers flowers and mushrooms and saplings extensively -- these things aren't even in the Decorations category. So there's a disconnect that can either be resolved by changing the "Decorations" page, or creating a new one that covers the current set of 'Decorations', or by renaming the category to describe the contents of said category...like Miscellaneous, or something. -- Minerspec 02:52, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

IE9 Problem with Template
