Sneaking

Sneaking is a feature introduced in Seecret Saturday 1 (The week after Seecret Friday 9). When you hold the Shift key you'll enter sneaking mode. Sneaking was originally called crouching; however, your hitbox doesn't change from the normal standing height.

Sneaking has the following effects:

  • You walk slower.
  • You make no noise.
  • You can't fall off ledges.
  • You can't walk up stairs and steps, but you can walk down.
  • You won't trample crops.
  • The camera slightly lowers.
  • Mobs still notice you, no matter what.

Bugs:

  • Pressing F5 while wearing a hat and in sneak mode, your head goes through your hat. Bigger effect while looking up.
  • Sneaking can be retained when bringing up the menu, and you can save while sneaking. You will respawn standing up, and fall through the block below you.
  • You can still fall off half-steps.
  • You can still fall off an edge if you're touching a Fence at the time.
  • Hanging off a ledge with using sneak then bringing up the inventory may sometimes stop falling damage.

You can change the hotkey from Shift to CapsLock to sneak without having to hold down a key, but unfortunately it only works on Mac. To make it work on Windows you have to change the hotkey to CapsLock, and while holding it press ALT. This will release the mouse, but make the sneaking permanently (until you press CapsLock again to return to the walking state). Just click the game window again to regain focus. However, this only works when playing on window mode, not fullscreen, and bringing up the inventory or menu will revert the status to walking.
