It is faster to break with swords[]

I noticed that shovels were slow on breaking Mycelium, so I tried the other tools and swords seem to be the fastest. Should we change the tool from shovel to sword? Or is it a bug?

Moved to Natural?[]

Yes, I know Mycelium is a plant but isn't it also natural?Punch trees, get wood 23:53, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Mushrooms[]

"Mushrooms spread faster on mycelium than on other blocks, and mycelium is the only block on which mushrooms can stay when an adjacent block is updated despite a light level that is normally too high for the mushroom to remain."

Do mushrooms specifically spread faster on mycelium, or is this merely a side effect due to them lasting under more possible light conditions? — MK (c/t)

water converts mycelium to dirt[]

On single-player in 1.4.6 water flowing on mycelium changes mycelium blocks into dirt. I haven't seen any information about it. Is it a bug? Anyone else encountered this? 78.146.239.50 00:38, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Silk Touch Pick[]

I just got Mycelium with a silk touch pick. SMP, 1.4.7. If someone backs this up, I'll change the info on the page.

Hostile mobs[]

I've found 3 mushroom islands so far, spent multiple days on each, and never saw a single hostile mob. This article says they can spawn on mycelium. Are we sure of that? Equazcion 11:15, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Nevermind, clarified the article. Equazcion 02:27, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Bone meal[]

Much like grass (which grows flowers, tall grass, etc. when exposed to bone meal), when bone meal is used on mycelium it grows a patch of random items naturally found on that type of block. Since only red mushrooms, brown mushrooms, and huge mushrooms grow on mycelium, only red mushrooms and brown mushrooms will be produced when mycelium is exposed to bone meal. 50.168.163.16 13:55, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

This appears to be false. Tested in both 1.7.9 and 14w19a. Anomie x (talk) 16:10, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

do mushroom spread faster?[]

The article says so, but as far as I have tested in a really huge farm for several minecraft days the growth speed is the same as on any other block.

Trivia[]

I couldn't add a comment on the Mycelium page so here I am

For some reason Mycelium uses an Indexed colour space I don't know why but it does

so its not RGBA, its... IA...? Index + Alpha

Nether bricks as well for some reason Purpur Pillar top

alright I'm starting to think this is an issue with decompression or something because the oddest of images are indexed. why Purpur pillar top, but not purpur? since I harvested my textures directly from the 1.17.1 Version compressed file in the .minecraft "versions" folder something might have been decompressed wrong

Redstone block Shulkerbox top Stripped crimson stem

ok I don't know anymore im just gonna convert everything into RBGA because these indexed images are getting in my way. Anyway someone else check if this is the case because I think something is wrong with specifically my textures.
