Wood is a crucial base resource in the game. All of the beginning game-play (in Survival Mode) relies on this very important resource, as the player must start from Wood in order to make any progress. Wood is collected from trees, and there are several different kinds, but to all intents and purposes, they will all do the same thing. Wood can catch and spread Fire in an instant, so it is a good idea to be cautious when using Flint and Steel or Lava near wood. Wood can be smelted into Charcoal by using a piece of wood on top and a piece of wood on the bottom slot of a furnace.

The process of gathering wood is commonly known as 'punching trees'.

UsesEdit

Wood is a key resource to possess during all the stages of the game. It can be crafted into Wooden Planks and then Sticks, which are used to make tools, and is also the first block to be collected. You can grow Cocoa Beans on jungle logs.

• When Leaves are not touching wood, they will not disappear, as of update 1.4.
• When the game was first created, there was only 1 type of wood. Birch and Redwood were added in Alpha, and Jungle wood was added in 1.1 or 1.2.
